So sorry we havent been able to post since we left the airport yesterday for Normandy. We were in the bus from 12 until about 5 when we arrived at the American cemetery - 5 minutes after closing. However, afer a few tense moments, they decided that we went through so much to get there that we deserved a tour and they gave us a great one. The kids really appreciated the solemnity and the history of this special place.
From there, bus to Granville were we checked into the youth hostel/sailing school and had a quick dinner in the cafeteria before going to our well-deserved beds. Not for long, though, because we were on the road again this morning at 7:30 for Mont Saint Michel. After a bracing hike through the salt marshes, mud, and rabbit burrows, we had lunch and a tour of the Mont. Again, very much appreciated, even though all were anxious to get to Sucy. After a very long day, we finally arrived at Sucy town hall at 9:15 pm where we were welcomed with speeches qnd gifts. Then everyone finally went with their host family, somewhat bedraggled but happy to finally be there.
Tomorrow, we will lmeet at 7:45 to go to Paris, Louvre, Notre Dame and Latin Quarter. We will be treated to a very special meal at the restaurant owned by one of our host families - who are going to provide a special lunch - for free- just for us right next to the Louvre. What a treat!
So all is well, but it is late - after midnight- and I am using a French keyboard where the letters are all in the wrong place - not that easy to type! I will try to upload photos tomorrow. Now that we are settled in Sucy we should have regular postings.
Everyone is absolutely fine - not to worry about a thing.
Bonne nuit et a demain.
