Yesterday (Wed) was dedicated to visiting the Palace of Versailles, which, of course, is enormous. We took the train there, had a guided tour (1/2 the group had it in French, 1/2 in English). The students were particularly impressed by the Hall of Mirrors. Then we hiked to the picnic tent (semi-protected from the wind) for our lunch, followed by a stroll through the expansive gardens. Fortunately, the sun started to come out and we started to warm up. We then walked back towards the train station where the students had time to look in shops and had a coffee or hot chocolate. Back to Sucy on time to get to the Welcome Reception at the town hall - welcome speeches, gifts, and snacks. The Exchange and its participants are very much appreciated in Sucy.
Today (Thurs) we awoke to freezing rain, which seemed to perturb the French who are not used to it. A few people were late because they had to scrape the windshield. The day included a long and freezing wait for the bus, a long ride to the train station (25 adorable French 4 yr-olds joined us on the public bus) and, finally, a visit of the main masterpieces at the Louvre. The French/English groups swapped places today. The guides were excellent and we visited the Mona Lisa (so small!), Winged Victory, and Venus de Milo, among others.
Merci, BPM

We are so happy to know our students are happy and welcome. I hope that they will always have a home away from home in Sucy. Please say hello to Freddie and the other French teachers for us. Kim Dickinson and Hal Stokes
